While I LOVE not having a job, working at home being a mom is a job in itself. Kudos to all you Mommies out there who plan on always being a stay at home Mom! I'm pretty sure when my kids hit Kindergarten age, I will be back out in the working world just to keep my sanity :). That said, I also LOVE being with my sweet little girl every day. This week is fall break so no school for me, and while other students are flying home to visit families or going on a fun vacation, I am spending 24/7 with little miss B :). I'm also preparing our home for a special visitor. My mom is flying in tomorrow morning to spend the weekend with us and I could not be more excited to see her. She hasn't seen B walking yet, so I'm pretty sure she is in for a special treat! Anyway, today I had an endless to do list, and somehow I got almost everything done by the time I put B down for a nap. Here's how my day went.
8:30 AM-Woke up followed by Braelyn 15 minutes later. Diaper change.
9:00 AM-Made scrambled eggs for Braelyn's breakfast and oatmeal for me
9:30 AM-Cleaned up breakfast. Diaper change-nice and poopie. ha ha
10:00 AM- THE CLEANING BEGINS!
First Braelyn's room. This was a difficult task. While I was folding her laundry, she was unfolding it. While I was putting books and toys away, she was taking them back off of the shelf. When I started organizing her stand full of diapers, bathing products, lotions, and bibs/washcloths Braelyn started organizing too - only she organized by taking everything off the shelves and putting them in an empty diaper box. Let's just say it took a whole lot longer than it needed to.
Then the bathroom. I decided it was time to go through the cupboards and throw some things out. Braelyn wanted in on the action too. As I was emptying a basket full of lotions and hair stuff, Braelyn INSISTED on taking them out first so she could hand them to me, one at a time. I got a giggle out of this and let her to do it since it was somewhat helpful. After each hand off, I said "thank you Braelyn" and tossed it in the trash or put it in my "keep it" pile. She got pretty mad when the game was over. I continued to deep clean the bathroom, sink, toilet, bathtub and all. This is when Braelyn brought me her sunglasses and asked me to put them on her, she also found a spoon and her treats from her diaper bag...at least she was entertaining herself :)
Lunch ended quickly and then it was back to work in the kitchen. Dishes, cleaned out the fridge, swept, wiped everything down, and cleaned out the pantry.
Then the living room! While I was doing the kitchen Braelyn had fun destroying the living room, which really only needed a vacuum when we woke up. So we got her toys put away picked up the papers she'd spewed all over the place and got the vacuum out. Usually B screams bloody murder when she even sees me pull it out of the closet, but for some reason this time she was just fine-at least until it got turned on. I held her while we vacuumed the living room and decided to see if I could vacuum her room without holding her. So I set her down waiting for the tears, but they never came! It was heavenly vacuuming without holding onto a toddler. Hopefully she's cured!
At this point it was 1:45 and almost time for a nap, but I decided to try and finish addressing baby shower invites for Mike's sister. Didn't have much luck with that because B wanted to be read to and then started taking invites from me. I gave up and got B down for a nap. Even with all of this done, I still have laundry to put a way and a whole other room to clean, but it will have to wait until Mike gets home because I am BEAT. Not to mention this stupid knee injury that has me limping. Now I am enjoying some peace and quiet while watching the lovely Ellen Degeneres (which is quite possibly one of the highlights of my day).
Trying to clean house with a toddler giving you endless interruptions is always interesting. At least she's entertaining though. Oh, and did I mention I'm still in my jammies? Ahhh just another day in the life of being a Mommy :)
