Right-Side-Up

So there's this little girl...
She's almost 3 feet tall, although she feels much smaller than that.
She likes dogs and cats, and gets a good giggle just by seeing one.
She loves Curious George, he's the only thing that will comfort her-which is funny because he doesn't really say much. Like I can.
When she smiles, she lights up an entire room.
She loves to run into my arms with a huge grin, while daddy chases her. I love that too.
She like's to shuffle her feet (I think she thinks she's running).
She loves to sit in the grocery cart while I shop, and say "hi hi hi" to anyone who passes by.
She likes clothes and shoes, she already wants to put them on by herself.
She loves to play outside.
She goes to sleep by herself, always without a fuss.
She says "Ditty" for Kitty and Mickey (as in Mickey Mouse-another love)
When she says "Ma-ma", I melt.
She loves to give me hugs and kisses, and I love to give them to her.
I'm convinced she knows how cute she is.
She makes me laugh, she makes me cry, she makes me proud.
All the time I spent waiting for her to come, I was thinking she'd be turning my world upside-down.
Little did I know, she would be turning it right-side-up.
I want to be better.
I want to be kind.
I want to be generous.
I want to be healthy.
I want to be strong.
I want to be happy.
I want to be successful.
I want to be worthy.
I want to be everything.
For her.
I never knew what living was until I met her.
She's my daughter, my sunshine, my inspiration.
My everything.
I love you baby!

We become people who feel more deeply, question more deeply, and love more deeply."

  1. Such a sweet poem, Sher! B is my favorite child of all time; I can see why she would make you want to become everything you are capable of becoming.

I just finished reading your last post, and I think going with your heart is the best thing to do when it comes to a major! If you ever have any doubts, you should watch the graduation speech Steve Jobs gave at Stanford. He talks about not wasting your life living other people's dreams, and it's really inspirational. I really don't think it matters what you major in; as long as you work hard and follow the Spirit's promptings, you will be happy and successful.

You should definitely order a replacement copy of your patriarchal blessing. Whenever I'm feeling low I read mine, and it lifts me right up. It is so comforting to know that we have a Heavenly Father who is always there for us, cheering us on. You can order one on lds.org under the "Tools" menu, but you need an lds.org login first. You need to get your record number from your bishop to create one.

    Love you!

  2. Thanks Amanda, I absolutely LOVE his speech. I heard the whole thing a few months ago and that was actually one thing that inspired me to change my mind...again. Not having a set plan for my future scares me, but I think sometimes the best things in life are often the hardest and scariest things you'll do. :)
