There is so much I
could blog about I actually get overwhelmed just thinking about blogging--which
is partly why I only do it once a month. I’ll just stick to the basics for now because
it’s quick and easy. Our family is doing really well! Mike is working his bum
off at work, school, and at home. I seriously don’t think I could have gotten
any luckier. I never hear him
complain that he is tired or that he “just needs a break” (which is something I
find myself sometimes saying) even though he gets about 5-6 hours of sleep a
night on average, wakes up at 5:30am and doesn’t get home until around
4:30-5pm. He is always ready and willing to handle Braelyn or to just sit in
her room and play all night. Somehow he always finds a way to give Braelyn and
I the love and attention we miss having when he’s at work or school. Not to mention he lets me control the
remote, he watches chick flicks with me and doesn’t complain (maybe it’s
because he likes them lol), and constantly tells me he loves me. To say
that he spoils us is an understatement. Aw the
newlywed life.
I’m doing really well too. I love all of my classes this
semester, and I’ve been getting the best grades I’ve ever had. This whole “not
working while in school” thing has really proven to be the right decision. Last
semester I was on the Dean’s List and I’m hoping to be on it this semester as
well. At the rate I’m going I am planning on graduating next spring, but it
depends whether or not I’ll be able to take classes this summer—which depends
on financial aid. If I don’t take classes this summer, I’ll either be enjoying doing
nothing with B or I’ll be working part-time. Right now I’m hoping for a job
with Apple as at At-Home Advisor, which means you work from home as a tech
support/customer service rep. I don’t want to work nor do I have to work, but this job would open so many doors for our family and me. They offer benefits from day one
and only require 20 hours per week (which is almost unheard of) we have
individual coverage right now and it is pretty expensive so that would help
save a lot of money. Plus, it would help me get my foot in the door for
technical writing, which is something I hope to do with my English major
someday. There are a lot of other good things about having the job, but I won’t
bore you with those details. Other than all of that going on in my head I’m
also trying to be the best mom and wife I can be, which I struggle with every
day. I am trying desperately to get into running, but I’m starting to think I’m
just not a runner. It’s been months since I started and I still have knee
problems. I’m attempting a 5k early this summer, and that will help me
determine whether I think I can do the half-marathon in August. I’m doing
weight-watchers right now and I’m really getting into it. I love making healthy
life-style changes and I feel like I’m on the right path to permanent weight
loss. No more of this up and down crap I’ve been dealing with for the past
couple of years.
Braelyn is growing and growing! She is now 18-months and
continues to make our lives more fun and interesting everyday. Here are some of
her favorite things that she’s doing and saying right now:
Word: “Woah” She says this all the time. Usually it’s when
she almost falls but catches herself, and that happens often. She also loves
“uh-oh”
Activity: feeding her dolls, monkeys, and other stuffed
animals, and saying “yummy, yummy, yummy” while she does it. She also loves
putting random stuff into bags. The other day Mike couldn’t find his car keys,
the first place I looked was her room. On the floor was a bag with a bunch of
stuff in it and what was inside? His keys. I like to say she’s learning to
organize. :) She also loves jumping!
Person: Daddy. She lovesher daddy. During the day she picks up my phone, puts it to her ear and says
“hi dada” and no I didn’t teach her that nor did I tell her to do it. It's okay, I love him too. :)
Game: Hide and seek, she especially loves the closet because of the sliding doors
Noise: “meow” she recently learned how to make this noise
and is obsessed with it! My daughter can speak dog, cat, monkey, and recently
“bear”. She growls at you and sometimes put her hands in the air too. Oooo
Scary!!! :)
Food: boiled eggs, also avocado. You’d think with how much
protein this girl gets she’d be bigger, but no.
Book: there’s too many, she loves to read! I think right now her favorite is “The little Mouse,
the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear”. Kinda a random book but she
always wants to read it more than once. She also likes “The Very Hungry
Caterpillar”.
Song: Bushel and a Peck, I also sing Taylor Swift's "Never Grow Up" and that always calms her down.
She can say dada, grampa, gg (for aunt gracie), no, ya, yes,
kitty, mickey, doggy, up, dow (down), yummy, and I can’t think of the other
words at the moment but I know there’s more. Oh, she’s still signing “more” and
“all done”, but we’re working on getting her to actually say them. Oh well, the
signing is adorable so I’m in no rush.
We’re loving life right now and are trying to enjoy the
moment, even though we are so excited for the summer because Mike will be ALL
done with school and we are moving out! Yay! We sure miss having a place of our
own.

I am so proud of both of you. I'm impressed!!! I really enjoy running over and getting a squeeze and a giggle from Braelyn at lunch time. I wish I could be with her as much as I did in her first 6 months. She is thriving because of the two of you and your stability and love. KEEP IT UP!!!!!
