Well it’s official we’ve decided on a home and signed all
the documents, until we actually close of course—then we’ll really be signing
our lives away. It didn’t take long
for us to make a decision, because it was actually the decision we were wanting
to make in the first place, but weren’t 100 percent sure about it until we
explored our options. If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I’m ALL
about knowing and researching options before making a decision. So know that
this decision we made, we are 100 percent confident about. We checked out homes
in Eagle Mountain a few times, explored living in different parts of the Salt
Lake Valley, and checked out Tooele/Stansbury Park a few times as well. The
verdict? We’re building with Wright Homes in Tooele! I know, I know, I know.
Tooele?! I can just imagine what your face looks like right now, and honestly
I had the same reaction when I would hear other people say they lived there,
but that was of course before I’d even been there. Aside from its extremely
strange and kind of stupid name, it is actually a really cute little town. I
would have preferred Stansbury Park, but we just couldn’t find what we were
looking for there to go with the time frame we wanted. I can’t really explain
to you why we chose to live there, because I’m still trying to figure it out
myself. All I can say is “it just feels right”. Aside from not needing much of
a down payment, being able to build a house we love, and being in a cute
neighborhood, I’m really trying to figure the rest out. It’s going to be quite
an adventure for our family, since Mike and I only really know the Salt Lake
Valley. Actually before I met him, I crossed I-15 and entered the “west side” maybe 10 times in my entire life. So my
horizons have really grown in the past 3 years and it will definitely be
growing even more when we move to a completely new place. I’m just looking at
it as an adventure! Someday I’d like to move to Brigham City or Logan, so this
is just the start of a new beginning for us. Tooele is going to be a little further away
from friends and family, but really it won’t be that much. It’s only a
25-minute drive to SLC so unless we’re trying to get to Utah Valley it won’t be
a huge deal for travel; plus we really have everything we need right in town
besides a Costco and a Target (two things I really have a hard time living
without). It’ll be closer to school for me too. When we were considering Eagle
Mountain I just had the hour commute running through my head constantly, that
was a huge problem for us. I could probably bore you all day about our exciting
plans of buying our new home, but I’ll spare you the details and just say that
we are extremely excited right now.
Mike is probably even more so because he’ll be doing all of the electrical work
on our new home :).
Pretty cool, right?
Well, I think I’ve prepared myself for the amount of crap
I’m going to get for saying "we’re movin’ to Tooele," so bring it! Nothing can
break me now :)
