10 1/2 months

Umm apparently I fail at blogging lol so to all of you out there who actually read my blog...I’m sorry. To make it up to you, here are some pictures with a list of things you should know about Braelyn at 10 1/2 months old :)

1. She LOVES Curious George
I woke up to find her sleeping like this

Holding his hand, taking a nap

Ready for bed

On a walk with her "road buddy"

She loves him so much, she's got two! The smaller George is for traveling (Mike calls him her "road buddy") as she takes him everywhere. Even when she's crawling around the house, she's got a good grip on his little arm. The bigger George is strictly for sleeping in her crib with her, so he doesn't get dirty and since he's pretty much the same size as her. Still that doesn't stop her from attempting to crawl with him too. When I go in to her room after she wakes up from a nap, I'll pick her up and she immediately turns to look down into the crib at Big George and say "oooh oooh". Sometimes she'll even point at him (which I might add is the CUTEST thing ever). Which brings me to my next point.

2. She loves to point
Sadly I haven't been able to snap a good picture to demonstrate her pointing abilities, so I'll just tell you a little bit about it. Braelyn will seriously point at everything, lately she's been getting especially good at pointing at things she actually wants. Like me, Mike, Bella (the cat), George, the door (she likes to go outside), food, etc. Usually she also adds the "oooh oooh" with the point, to vocalize her wants. What's funnier is she's still perfecting her point, at times she points with one finger and others she points with two. It's seriously the most adorable thing I've ever seen.

3. She LOVES Bella
Bella has become Braelyn's playmate, in lieu of having a sibling to chase around and harass. (No, we won't be having another baby anytime soon). This girl will do anything to get Bella's attention; such as shaking toys in her face, trying to get her to chase her, or simply crawling up to her and "patting" her (even though it usually looks and sounds more like smacking). Here is a video-it's a little long, but well worth watching :).

4. She HATES diaper changes
Or anything that requires her to be still. Ever since she's been mobile, she hates the diaper and wardrobe changes. It's pretty frustrating, especially when she's screaming bloody murder when all you're trying to do is get all of the poop off her bum. Let's just say she's very vocal and strong willed....very much so.

5. She loves to be read to
Her favorite book is called "I Love You Through and Through", she giggles every time you finish reading a page. Then when you're done and moving on to the next book, she pushes that one away and looks for her favorite one by saying "oooh oooh". I end up reading it three or four times. Hopefully she'll let me read something else eventually, (for my own sake, not hers).

6. She says Ma Ma and Da Da
She usually says "ma ma" when she's sad, tired, hungry, etc. I mostly hear "da da" when she's happy and playful, funny how that works :). One night after I laid her down in her crib for bed, I go in to our room to get myself into bed and five seconds later she starts crying, saying "ma ma". It nearly broke my heart, the past few weeks she refuses to fall asleep in her crib. I usually end up singing and rocking her to sleep. I hope it doesn't become a bad habit. I don't mind it now, but I think I'll start to mind when she's 2 or 3!

7. She loves to be outside
Swimming!

Trying on some shades

Crawling in the grass

Talking to the duckies with Grandma Bina and cousin Charlie

8. She's not sure what to think of fireworks
She likes to look at them, but can't stand the sound of them. Over the fourth of July weekend we had a lot of opportunities to introduce her to fireworks. First, on Friday some of the neighbors invited us to watch some of their fireworks.

Braelyn got to play with sparklers for the first time

We also watched fireworks at Cassie's and Andrew's "Fourth of July Luau" on Sunday. Her experience with fireworks there wasn't so pleasant. She didn't cry once, but you could tell the fireworks scared her. Every time one went off, she'd hide her face in mine or Mike's chest and grab on to our necks. She was like a Koala bear (which I kind of enjoyed as she hardly ever sits still long enough to cuddle anymore).

Here's a picture of her in her "native" Hawaiian outfit she got from Grandma Bina :)

Last, we got to go see fireworks on Monday at Sugarhouse :) Mike wasn't all for it because he's not a huge fan of crowds, but I really wanted to go since I missed the show last year. Braelyn did a lot better, I think it was because the fireworks were further away and not as loud as the one's you do at home. She ended up cuddling up to me, and pointing at the fireworks in the sky-every few minutes she'd add the "oooh oooh".

Braelyn in her festive red dress, waiting for the show to start :)

Her famous pout, love her!

9. She's a beggar
Braelyn loves to beg for your food, no matter what it is. If you're eating something she smiles, comes up to you and gets as close to your food as possible. If you don't give it to her, she gets mad. She definitely has a voice! It's pretty entertaining actually :) She especially loves bananas!!

Sweet potatoes are her favorite!

10. She LOVES to smile and be happy

Until next time! :)

  1. She is such a little princess and she simply could not be any cuter. Thanks for posting so many photos and for the updates on her (mostly) adorable habits. I love the first picture with her bum in the air holding Curious George, it's precious! If there was an award for best dressed baby, she'd get it. I love her little jean capris.
